There are times when I am in awe at how rewarding my job is. It’s easy to get caught up in the to-do list during the day, the stack of client orders to fulfill, the hours of editing waiting to be done, the scheduling, the design work, the color correcting, the email answering…my head is spinning. However, there are moments that stop me in my tracks and remind me to be grateful.
My time with the Senese Family and Baby Ensley was one of those times. There I was, meeting them for the first time in their home, ready to document this beautiful little being that had just joined their lives. Such an intimate thing as a family and I was invited to document it. And at the end of it, as I grabbed my bag to leave, big brother Denver came running over and grabbed hold of my leg. And as I lifted him up to see him face to face and say goodbye, he kissed me. Right on the lips. Swoon.
Now I’m sure he is that sweet to everyone who comes and visits him, but my time in the Senese home reminded me of just how huge it is what I do – how intimate and personal. And that I can never forget it’s value and it’s worth. And that I will never forget Denver and that kiss. Or how at-home I felt chatting with Mom as we watched Baby Ensley slowly fall asleep. Or how Dad played with Denver in the other room in order to keep it quiet for said sleeping baby. It was all so simple, so everyday…but yet so perfect.
Miss Megan, congratulations. Not only on beautiful Baby Ensley, but for a beautiful family as well. With love…
